Rosa (mid 60s, female, hispanic/latina - open)

Project: The Parachute - Shortfilm

Seeking three roles, 1 male in his late 20s, one hispanic couple in their 60s-70s for non-union shortfilm.

Briefs below:

Josh (late 20s early 30s, male, hispanic/latino - open 1st gen)
Josh is a grounded, skeptical, and slightly overwhelmed adult son returning home amid a family crisis. Loves his family but struggles to connect emotionally, especially with his father. Josh is constantly worried about his father's health and his somehow reckless desires to feel alive, blaming him for his health problems. Requires strong emotional nuance.

Carlos (late 60s to early 70s, male, hispanic/latino - open)
Carlos is the loving but stubborn father of Josh. Recently struggling with mobility issues, he seeks to reclaim his sense of agency through adrenaline-seeking adventures — including skydiving. Beneath his humor and bravado lies vulnerability, fear of aging, and a need to feel alive. Actor needs to convey vitality/stubborness through fragility, and handle both with depth.

Rosa (mid 60s, female, hispanic/latina - open)
Rosa is the warm but anxious mother of Josh. She’s loving and supportive (in a hispanic way, yet deeply concerned about her husband’s recent obsession with thrill-seeking behavior. Rosa is emotionally expressive and grounded in realism, often pleading with both her husband and son to not do crazy things.

Production might include shooting at a regional airport (Middleburg, VA). Each acting opportunity is paid 125$ per day.

“The Parachute” is a short dramedy that explores the tension between aging and the desire to stay fully alive. When Carlos, a headstrong Latino father grappling with physical decline, decides he wants to skydive, his cautious son Josh rushes home to stop him. Caught between them is Rosa, the mother, who tries to mediate with warmth and reason. Through humor and heartache, the film examines family bonds, generational stubbornness, and the quiet courage it takes to let go.
